How to say “hasten” in Arabic, with pronunciation and real example sentences from OpenArabic texts.
وَأَنَّهُ لَوْ تَقَوَّلَ عَلَيْهِ لَمَا أَقَرَّهُ وَلَعَاجَلَهُ بِالْإِهْلَاكِ،
And if he had fabricated against Him, He would not have approved of him and would have hastened his destruction.
وَلَعَاجَلَهُ — and would have hastened. This joins 'and' to the answer-marker la- plus the verb 'He hastened him', built on a pattern meaning to do something quickly. The la- ties this to the same unreal 'if', and the attached 'him' is its object; it means 'and would have hastened against him'.
From: Proof of the True Messenger →وأنه لو تقول عليه لما أقره ولعاجله بالإهلاك
And that if he had falsely attributed to Him, He would not have approved it and would have hastened to destroy him.
وَلَعَاجَلَهُ — and would have hastened. The conjunction adds a second consequence verb, again opened by the emphatic answer-marker, meaning 'and would have hastened against him'. The object 'him' is attached, and the verb's lengthened pattern carries the sense of acting swiftly upon someone.
