How to say “heard” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
روي في الخبر أن عائشة رضي الله عنها سمعت الحسن يتكلم،
It is reported in the narration that Aisha, may Allah be pleased with her, heard Al-Hasan speak,
سَمِعَتِ — heard. This past-tense verb carries a feminine 'she' subject by its ending: 'she heard'. The smoothing vowel at its end eases into the next word and is not part of its core. Arabic marks the female doer through the verb ending.
