How to say “I knew” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
فَعَرَفْتُ أَنَّهُ سَيَعُودُ لِقَوْلِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِنَّهُ سَيَعُودُ
So I realized that he would return in accordance with the statement of the Messenger of Allah, "He will return."
فَعَرَفْتُ — so I knew. A past-tense verb with the 'I' subject in its '-tu' ending, opened by 'fa-' that marks the speaker's realization as following from the Prophet's words. The completed-action past reports the moment of understanding.
