ومن بايع إماماً فأعطاه صفقة يده، وثمرة قلبه، فليطعه إن استطاع،
And whoever gives allegiance to an Imam, giving him a handshake and sincerity of his heart, let him obey him if he is able,
إِمَامًا — to an Imam. This indefinite noun, 'a leader', is the object of the pledging, taking the object ending. Its indefinite form presents the leader generally, any imam such a pledge might be given to.

The ancestor of our master and lord, the Imam whose obedience is obligatory, and whoever opposes him is ignorant in my view.
ٱلْإِمَامُ — the Imam. The al- makes this definite, 'the Imam'. It stands in apposition to the titles before it, renaming the same person, and a description of him follows.

He said: 'As long as your leaders are upright.'
أَئِمَّتُكُمْ — your leaders. A plural noun, 'leaders', with the attached -kum (your) marking the owners; it is the subject of 'stay upright'. The suffix ties the leaders to the addressed group: 'your leaders'.

Imam Al-Hafiz Abu Al-Fadl Qadi Iyad, may Allah have mercy on him, said:
الإِمَامُ — Imam. A title-noun 'the Imam' with al- ('the'), opening the chain of titles naming the speaker; as the doer of 'said' it stands in the nominative. The following titles and name all describe this same person in apposition. Arabic stacks such descriptive titles directly, one after another.
