Arabic vocabulary
How to say “return” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
فجاءنى بعد حين فقال يا عبد الله أدّ إلى أجرى، فقلت كل ما ترى من أجرك من الإبل والبقر والغنم والرقيق
After some time, he returned to me and said: 'O Servant of Allah, return my wages to me.' I said: 'Look at everything you see; it is all from your wages: camels, cows, sheep, and servants.'
أَدِّ — return. This is a command form, an imperative addressed to one listener, so it carries no separate 'you': the order rides in the verb's shape. It opens the demand, 'pay over', and governs both the recipient and the wage that follow.
