How to say “ring” in Arabic, with pronunciation and real example sentences from OpenArabic texts.
ويُستحب ألّا يرفعَ اليدَ عن العضو حتى يتمَّ مسحَه، وأن ينزعَ الخاتمَ في الضربة الأولى،
It is recommended not to lift the hand from the limb until its wiping is completed, and to remove the ring in the first strike.
الْخَاتَمَ — the ring. 'the ring,' in the -a form as object of 'remove' — the finger-ring. Recommended to be taken off so the dust reaches the skin, as the timing phrase clarifies.
From: The Practice of Earth Cleansing →قَالَتْ لَا أُحِلُّ لَكَ أَنْ تَفُضَّ الْخَاتَمَ إِلَّا بِحَقِّهِ
She said, "I do not permit for you to remove the ring except by his right."
الْخَاتَمَ — the ring. A definite noun carrying 'the', and its ending marks it as the thing the action lands on, the direct object of 'remove'. Arabic shows that object role with a vowel on the word's end rather than with word order alone, so the case ending is doing work English leaves to position.
