فَقَالَ تَعَالَىٰ وَاسْتَعِينُوا بِالصَّبْرِ وَالصَّلَاةِ وَإِنَّهَا لَكَبِيرَةٌ إِلَّا عَلَى الْخَاشِعِينَ
And the Exalted said, Seek help through patience and prayer; indeed, it is a great burden except for the humble.
الْخَاشِعِينَ — the humble. A definite plural doer-noun ('the humble') in the genitive after the preposition, naming the exempted group. The sound-plural ending here is the oblique shape that prepositions require.
