How to say “to give” in Arabic, with pronunciation and real example sentences from OpenArabic texts.
لا ينقصه من ملكه ما وهب وآتى،
His kingdom is not diminished by what He grants and gives,
وَآتَى — and gives. The 'and' joins a second verb under the same 'what', so it shares that relative subject. The past-tense verb means 'gave', pairing with the previous verb to cover all that God grants and gives, none of which diminishes His kingdom.
From: Death and Decree →وَقَوله الْحَدِيد لكيلا تأسوا على مَا فاتكم وَلَا تفرحوا بِمَا آتَاكُم
And His saying in Al-Hadid: 'So that you do not despair over what has passed you by, nor rejoice over what He has given you.'
آتَاكُمْ — He has given you. Past-tense verb, 'He gave', with 'you-all' attached as object, 'gave you'. The unstated 'He' subject is God; the attached 'you' is the recipient, completing 'what He gave you'.
