Arabic vocabulary
How to say “to ripen” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
وَقَوْلُهُمْ لَمَّا انْضَجَ رَمَدَ، مَذْكُورٌ فِي قَوْلِهِ تَعَالَى وَأَعْطَى قَلِيلًا وَأَكْدَى
And their saying: 'As soon as it ripens, it spoils' is mentioned in His saying: 'And gave a little, then withheld.'
نَضَجَ — it ripens. Past-tense 'it ripened, became ripe', the 'it' subject inside. It is the first event in the 'as soon as it ripened' pairing, the completed action that the spoiling immediately follows. The past tense fixes it as done before the next step.
