Arabic vocabulary
How to say “to spoil” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
وَقَوْلُهُمْ لَمَّا انْضَجَ رَمَدَ، مَذْكُورٌ فِي قَوْلِهِ تَعَالَى وَأَعْطَى قَلِيلًا وَأَكْدَى
And their saying: 'As soon as it ripens, it spoils' is mentioned in His saying: 'And gave a little, then withheld.'
رَمَدَ — it spoils. Past-tense 'it spoiled, went bad', the 'it' subject inside. It is the answering event to 'as soon as it ripened', the thing that follows at once. The pairing of the two past verbs is how Arabic builds 'the moment it ripened, it spoiled'.
