When they had finished, this imam of uncommon standing hurriedly began to deliver his sermon.
الْغَرِيبُ — of uncommon standing. An adjective 'strange/uncommon', the head of a possessive pairing with 'standing' that follows, together forming the epithet 'of uncommon standing'. As lead term of that construct it takes definiteness from the second term and agrees with the imam it describes.
