When they had finished, this imam of uncommon standing hurriedly began to deliver his sermon.
عجلًا — hurriedly. A noun 'haste' in the object-style case used adverbially, telling how he delivered, 'hurriedly'. Arabic turns a noun into an adverb of manner by putting it in this accusative. It modifies the manner of his sermon-giving rather than naming a thing.
From: Public Preaching →
And he quickly delivers the eloquent sermon with it.
عَجَلًا — quickly. This noun is used adverbially, telling you how the delivering is done. Its accusative ending is what turns a plain noun into a description of manner, so where English would use a separate '-ly' adverb, Arabic just sets the noun in the accusative to mean 'in a quick way'.
