Arabic vocabulary
How to say “would look” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
حَتَّى إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَيَنْظُرُ إِلَى عَائِشَةِ،
So much so that the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, would look at Aisha,
لَيَنْظُرُ — would look. A present-tense verb fronted by an emphasis particle (the 'la-'), giving a 'he really would look' force; the present shape paints a repeated, vivid scene rather than a one-off past act. Arabic uses the unfinished form this way to make a habitual past feel immediate, like a camera lingering on the action.
