How to say “a group” in Arabic, with pronunciation and real example sentences from OpenArabic texts.
أَنَّ عُمَرَ انْطَلَقَ مَعَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي رَهْطٍ
That Umar set out with the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, in a group.
رَهْطٍ — a group. An indefinite noun, 'a band/party', in the genitive as object of the preceding 'in'; the lack of 'the' leaves the group's identity open, just some company.
From: A Night with the Companions →اِنْطَلَقَ ثَلَاثَةُ رَهْطٍ مِمَّنْ كَانَ قَبْلَكُمْ
Three men set out from among those who were before you.
رَهْطٍ — men. A small-group collective noun completing the count, the thing being numbered by 'three'. Held in the counted slot after the numeral, it supplies what the three are, naming the band that set out.
