How to say “abode” in Arabic, with pronunciation and real example sentences from OpenArabic texts.
ومعصيته توجب سُكْنى الْجنان ونزول مَحل الرضْوَان
And disobeying him earns dwelling in the gardens and reaching the abode of divine pleasure.
مَحَلِّ — the abode of. This is 'place, abode' heading a possessive pairing with the name that follows, 'the abode of divine pleasure'. It is the owned term after 'reaching', so it takes the genitive, while itself owning the next noun. So it sits in the middle of a chain, both owned and owner.
From: Adam's Warning →وَمَحَلُّهُ مِنَ الظُّفْرِ كَمَحَلِّ الرَّأْسِ مِنَ الْجَسَدِ
And its place in victory is like the place of the head in the body.
كَمَحَلِّ — like the place of. Two pieces: the ka- is the simile particle 'like/as', and the noun fused to it is 'place/standing', which heads an 'of' pairing with 'the head' next. So 'like the standing of...' opens the second half of the comparison. The ka- governs the whole following 'of' phrase.
