Arabic vocabulary
How to say “he was dragged” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
ولكنك فعلت ليقال جواد، فقد قيل، ثم أُمر به فسُحب على وجهه ثم ألقي في النار
But you did it so that he would be called generous; so it was said. Then an order was issued about him; he was dragged on his face and then thrown into the fire.
فَسُحِبَ — so he was dragged. This puts fa- 'so/then' on a past passive verb 'was dragged'. The passive comes from reshaped vowels, not a helper word, so the man receives the dragging while the doers stay unnamed. The fa- chains it as the next consequence after the order, continuing the grim sequence of punishment.
