How to say “innovation” in Arabic, with pronunciation and real example sentences from OpenArabic texts.
كَمَا أَن العابد الزَّاهِد قد يكون لما فِي قلبه من بِدعَة ونفاق مسخوطا عِنْد الله وَرَسُوله
Just as a devout worshipper may, because of the innovation and hypocrisy in his heart, be disliked by Allah and His Messenger.
بِدْعَةٍ — innovation. This noun is indefinite and sits in the genitive because the preposition before it governs it. The indefinite form gives 'some innovation', an unspecified amount, naming the first fault in the heart.
From: Sincerity and Hypocrisy →وَلِهَذَا قَالَ أَئِمَّة الْمُسلمين كسفيان الثَّوْريّ أَن الْبِدْعَة أحب إِلَى إِبْلِيس من الْمعْصِيَة
And this is why the leaders of the Muslims, like Sufyan al-Thawri, said that innovation is more beloved to Iblis than sin.
الْبِدْعَةَ — the innovation. This noun carries 'the' and its ending is the accusative because the 'that' particle before it forces that case on its subject. It names innovation as the topic of the reported clause.
