دِينِهِ — his religion. Genitive after 'in', this noun carries an attached 'his' — 'his religion'. The pronoun ties the endangered faith to the harmed person. One word holds both noun and possessor.

For this reason, it is common in the speech of religious sheikhs and its imams.
الدِّينِ — the religion. A definite noun 'the religion' closing the possessive chain as the owner, in the genitive. It is the 'of the religion' that 'the speech of the elders of...' points to.
