How to say “side” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
فَإِذَا النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَلَى حَصِيرٍ قَدْ أَثَّرَ فِي جَنْبِهِ،
When the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, was on a mat that had an indentation on its side,
جَنْبِهِ — his side. A noun 'side' with a single 'his' possessor fused on the end, pointing back to the Prophet rather than the mat; the attached owner keeps it in the 'of' ending after 'in'. Tracking that the 'his' is the Prophet's is part of reading the line.
