How to say “so he was dragged” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
فقد قيل ثم أُمر به، فسُحب على وجهه حتى ألقي في النار،
It was said that then an order concerning him was given, and he was dragged on his face until he was thrown into the fire.
فسُحب — so he was dragged. This pairs the connector fa- with a passive-shaped verb, 'so he was dragged'. The fa- delivers the next step, and the passive marks the man as the one dragged, with no dragger named.
