When they became many, and the talk became burdensome on them, he said, 'Indeed, the ears become tired, and indeed, the hearts become sour.'
حَامِضَةٌ — become sour. The predicate of the second 'indeed' clause, taking the -u ending; what is asserted about the hearts, linked with no verb 'to be'.
