Arabic vocabulary
How to say “tired” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
فإذا كثروا وثقل عليهم الحديث، قال إن الأذن مجاجة، وإن القلوب حمضة
When they became many, and the talk became burdensome on them, he said, 'Indeed, the ears become tired, and indeed, the hearts become sour.'
مَجَّاجَةٌ — become tired. The predicate of the 'indeed' clause, so it takes the -u ending; it is what is asserted about the ear. With no verb 'to be', Arabic links topic and predicate directly, the particle supplying the emphasis.
