Arabic vocabulary
How to say “temporary” in Arabic, with pronunciation and real example sentences from OpenArabic texts.
فإن تقدّم بَطَلَ عن الفرضِ وعن النفلِ المؤقّت
If done earlier, it is invalid for both the obligatory prayer and the time-bound voluntary prayer.
الْمُؤَقَّتِ — the time-bound. A passive participle, 'the made-timed / time-fixed,' an adjective on 'the optional,' matching it as definite and in the -i form. It restricts the ruling to optional prayers tied to a set hour — those, like the obligatory, need their time first.
From: Purification Without Water →ويجوزُ التيممُ للنوافلِ غيرِ المؤقّتةِ في سائرِ الأوقاتِ غيرِ أوقاتِ الكراهة
It is permissible to perform a dry ablution for non-time-bound optional prayers at all times except those of dislike.
الْمُؤَقَّتَةِ — time-bound. A passive participle, 'made-timed,' feminine and in the -i form. Under 'non-,' the phrase means optional prayers NOT tied to a set hour — the kind for which tayammum stays valid at large.
