Arabic vocabulary
How to say “the path” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
وَلِيَعْلَمَ أَنَّ رَفِيقَهُ فِي هَذَا الصِّرَاطِ هُمْ الَّذِينَ أَنْعَمَ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِمْ،
And let him know that his companions on this path are those whom God has favored.
الصِّرَاطِ — the path. The noun pointed at by 'this' and governed by the earlier 'in', so it carries the genitive ending. Its definite al- assimilates in sound into the following sun letter, doubling that consonant when spoken. Together with the demonstrative it fixes the reference to one specific, familiar path.
