How to say “turned white” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
وَمِنْه قَوْله تَعَالَى يُوسُف فَتَوَلّى عَنْهُم وَقَالَ يَا أسفي على يُوسُف وابيضت عَيناهُ من الْحزن فَهُوَ كظيم
And from this is His saying in Surah Yusuf: 'So he turned away from them and said, "Oh, my grief over Yusuf!" And his eyes turned white from sadness, for he was suppressing it.'
وَابْيَضَّتْ — and it turned white. A connector plus a past verb, 'and it turned white', with a feminine ending agreeing with the feminine dual 'his two eyes' that follows. The 'and' adds the next narrated effect of grief.
