The Prophet said, 'The lawful is clear, and the unlawful is clear, and between them are ambiguous matters that many people do not know.'
الحَرَامُ — the unlawful. This noun carries 'the' and is the subject of its clause, with the plain subject ending. It names the unlawful as the topic the next word describes, mirroring the first statement.
