How to say “guardian” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
وَقَالَ تَعَالَى الْبَقَرَة الله ولي الَّذين آمنُوا يخرجهم من الظُّلُمَات إِلَى النُّور
And the Exalted said (in Sūrah al‑Baqarah): “Allah is the guardian (walī) of those who have believed; He brings them out from the darknesses into the light.”
وَلِيُّ — is the guardian. First noun of an 'X of Y' pair, 'guardian', the predicate, in the owned head form completed by 'those who believed'. So 'Allah is the guardian of the believers'; the pairing supplies the 'of'.
