How to say “kind” in Arabic, with pronunciation and real example sentences from OpenArabic texts.
أي على رجعه إليه يوم القيامة كما هو قادر على خلقه من ماء هذا شأنه
Meaning, bringing him back to Him on the Day of Resurrection, as He is able to create him from water of this nature.
شَأْنُهُ — of this nature. This pairs the noun 'matter/affair' with an attached 'its', the predicate of a small describing clause, 'whose matter is this'. The attached owner points back to the water, so the whole reads 'water of this nature'. The pronoun ties the description to the water.
From: Ten Proofs of Resurrection →قَالَ مَا شَأْنُكَ
He said, "What is the matter with you?"
شَأْنُكَ — your matter. This noun ends in an attached -ka ('your', to a male) so the possessor is built right onto it. In this verb-less question it pairs with 'what' to mean 'what is your situation', acting as the part being identified.
