Then He, the Exalted, informed us about the state of human beings on the Day of Judgment: that they will not be able to prevent the punishment of Allah, neither by their own strength nor by any external support, for He is the Helper.
عَذَابِ — punishment of. A noun 'punishment of' that opens an 'of' pairing with the next word, held in the genitive by the preceding 'from'. As the possessed head it carries no 'the' of its own.

And the severe punishment,
وَالْعَذَابِ — and the punishment. Two pieces: the connector wa- continuing the list of what is heard, and a definite noun (al-) 'the punishment'. The wa- extends the run of objects, and the noun carries the 'of'-style ending matching the items it is strung alongside.

الْعَذَابِ — the punishment. This definite noun completes a two-noun 'of' pairing with 'angels' before it: these are the angels belonging to punishment.
