بَيْنَ — between. 'between' — an accusative adverb governing genitive — 'joining BETWEEN...'.

بَيْنَ — between. This word sets up a 'between two bounds' frame and grips what follows in the after-preposition ending. Here the two bounds are whole clauses, 'what has passed' and 'what is to come', with the present moment poised between them.

But the matter is in your life, which is your present time between the two periods.
بَيْنَ — between. The 'between two bounds' word again, gripping what follows in the genitive. Here the two bounds are the periods before and after, with the present time set squarely between them.
