وَعِنْدَ صَحِيحِ الْبُخَارِيِّ عَنْ اِبْنِ عَبَّاسِ
And in Sahih al-Bukhari, on the authority of Ibn Abbas.
عَبَّاسِ — Abbas. A personal name completing the 'son of' chain as the father, wearing the after-link ending the patronymic imposes. Its only role is to finish the narrator's lineage label. It closes the name unit.

الْعَبَّاسِ — al‑Abbas. A proper name in the genitive after the preposition 'with'; the 'the' is part of the name. It names whom the man was alongside.

Ibn Abbas, may Allah be pleased with them, said:
عَبَّاسِ — Abbas. A father's name in the owned 'of' slot of 'son of ___', carrying the genitive ending. Side by side the two names form a possessive pair, naming the narrator as 'son of Abbas'.

Ibn Abbas said.
عَبَّاسِ — Abbas. This is a personal name, the father in the lineage, owned by the 'son of' word before it, so together they identify one man. As the owning half of the pairing it sits in the governed form. Arabic completes 'son of X' simply by placing X right after.
