إن غلب نور عمله الصالح ثَقُلَت كفّته، فيُعرف مكانه في الجنّة بعمله كما يعرف أهل الجمعة منازلهم عند الانصراف
If the light of his righteous deeds prevails, his balance becomes heavy, and his place in paradise is known by his deeds, just as those who attend Friday prayers know their homes upon leaving.
مَكَانُهُ — his place. 'his place' — 'makan' with 'his' attached, the subject of the passive 'is known', nominative. The place-of-X noun; 'his' points to the believer.

مَكَانَهُ — his place. A place-noun 'place' with '-hu' (his) attached, used as an accusative of place — 'in his spot'. The accusative marks where the night was passed, no separate 'in' needed.

وَمَكَانٍ — and a place. 'and a place,' joined by 'and,' the 'bi-' still understood — the third hook. Anchoring meaning to a PLACE (on the page) ties it to a location, named next.

أَمَاكِنَ — places. This noun, places, is in the genitive after the preposition but shows a bare ending without nunation because it belongs to a noun-class that resists the normal indefinite ending. The unusual ending is a property of the word, not a different case.
